Student Leadership
At Coldstream Primary School we are deeply committed to developing leadership skills in ALL our students - from Foundation all the way through the school and actively look for opportunities where they can be recognised for the efforts and commitment to the school and the community.
At senior levels particularly, student voice is vitally important in the overall running and setting of the tone of the school especially as office monitors where they run the administration area while staff are on break.
The most important roles of School and House Captains as well as Junior School Council require students to apply in writing and to compose and deliver persuasive speeches about what they can offer our school community.
We ask a great deal of our student leadership team. Our School Captains regularly represent the school in a variety of situations, and are responsible for the organisation of assemblies, representing the school at functions as our ambassadors. Junior School Council assists School Council in running the schools and regularly write articles for the school newsletter. These students also attend the National Young Leaders Conference. This is an invaluable experience where students can meet leaders from other schools and listen to inspiring stories from carefully chosen guest speakers. The students reflect on the experience and apply skills and attributes needed for effective leadership.
